The walk continues towards The Libyan Sea

Aproaching "The Iron Gates"/ The narrowest part of the gorge, the sides are only 4 metres apart here.

A rickety wooden walkway keeps you above thr river

There are mules in the gorge that can carry people out in an emergency

Nearing the end of the gorge

Looking back as we near the end

and walking on to the South coast of Crete

The Lybian Sea comes into view after 11 miles of walking.

The colour of the sea is spectacular

From here in the tiny village of Agia Roumeli, the only way out is by boat. It was also very windy.

On the very and heading to the nearest village with a road to catch the bus back to Chania

The White Mountains. So named as they are Limestone and glow white in the sun

An hour on the ferry and we arrive at Souya, to get the coach back to Chania
